The problem to begin with was that a bunch of people decided (correctly) that a bunch of other people in their 20s-40s wanted to see a live-action version of an '80s cartoon based on Hasbro toys, and that this new live-action movie needed to be directed by the tone-deaf moron who directed Armageddon, the Bad Boys movies, Pearl Harbor, and the Rock.

...(LONG SENTENCE)

I mean, really? I mean, I loved Transformers the Movie, too, but it was self-aware that it was FOR KIDS, and damn, at least it was animated in probably animé's best decade ever. It looked and flowed better than the Fist of the North Star animé movie, which was done by the same animation company (Toei) and which came out the same year! It wasn't over-budgeted CGI-ed crap directed by *Michael Bay.* The hell?

Where's my My Little Ponies CGI-ed extravaganza? Where's my Jem movie? :P

I'm tired of these hyper-masculinized comic book/cartoon movies meant for kids coming out every summer, pretending to be grown-up. The Dark Knight was a good movie, for sure, but I hate to say it, but as much of a cliché-fest that movie was, Slumdog Millionaire was a grown-ups' movie; it was a movie you didn't need to be ashamed to tell your parents about. Jeez.

The most sickening thing to me is that before the 1st movie was released, Bay promised to heavily base the movies on the original history established in the 80s storyline on this pre-production website forums that existed to guide the creation of the 1st movie. He did not do this(and a shame since the original series and movie history was very detailed and interesting) and instead created an alternate universe with nothing in common with the original Transformers except for names of characters and origin from the planet 'Cybertron'. Of course, the total lack of any substance in the plot/story is also sickening, and I got dizzy trying to watch the continuous action scenes that were almost non stop. But I am not surprised. The only Bay movie I have ever found to be somewhat 'good' was the Rock movie released in the 90's.

I knew this movie was going to be disappointing, but I didn't expect the comic relief to be amped up by more mindless robots who sound like black stereotypes. At what point did Michael Bay think people would find them funny, or that his ignorant depictions of blacks were not outdated?

I did, however, find the first fight with Optimus Prime against many of the Decepticons to be entertaining.
